Internet is almost the closest thing everybody has to everything.  Making it a drug to all kinds of people. Some people like me would like to stay at home and watch YouTube videos because everything I need to entertain myself can be found on the internet.  The information it feeds us made us psychologically dependent since it contains everything we wanted, from entertainment, news, educational information, and social channel. It also allow us to read all kinds of books cheaply compared to bookstores, also it allows us to purchase and read reviews about a certain item before we can even purchase a certain item we desire.  It also provides us efficient ways to communicate to different kinds of people in long distances without the extra pay for   International Direct Dialing (IDD) rates.  The right people to help us connect ...

Techie Jargon 101 Fiber-to-the-Node (FTTN)

Since PLDT has started promoting their Fiber Optics internet campaign last December and I'm sure everyone will be looking forward to getting it. We cannot question the speed of Fiber Technology. It is significantly and undeniably faster than ADSL or Cable Internet since fiber technology uses the flicker of light to communication information through glass cable wires, unlike the electromagnetic pulse sent by ordinary copper cables from DSL.  Understanding how fiber optics work is very messy job. Jargons like FTTH, FTTD, FTTC, and FTTN are some of terms you'll encounter when a salesman is trying to sell you fiber internet for your business, yet there are many things to learn about fiber internet connection that you might need to consider.  As a reponsible netizen, I'll give you the difference between two fiber jargons, namely the FTTH and FTTN for you to understand if you're getting fiber optics directly to your PC or just to the big box found on communicatio...

Is your 1Gig Internet Daily Data Allowance Enough for You?

30GB monthly data allowance for Philippines Major ISP's cheapest internet plan  In this world, it is a fact that " the cheapest will never be the best" .  People have to pay more to get more. This is what society and corporate companies taught us. Wherein, in order for us to get the best internet connection for home, we need to pay higher monthly premium for us to get faster internet. Does it means that "cheap" is substandard? It is a question of how you "utilize" your connection.  Due to lack of product information on a said internet package , we tend to get the "cheapest" one since it's still an internet connection and we think that the connection given to us will be sufficient enough to maximize our internet needs.  This is one common problem for subscribers  like us, we tend to rush signing up for the cheapest internet package without knowing if the certain packages suites our need, or it's just good for one perso...

Research Before you sign up for any Internet Connection for your Home!

Alright, to start things off, I just had a new internet connection at home and I fckin hate it. It's the pesky P***** which I don't want to mention for the sake of their reputation and honor.   I was supposed to enjoy this connection since I turned away from Globe (even though we endured the last 3 years) due to the never ending connectivity and instability issues I am experiencing every 8:00pm to 11:00pm. A golden time in which I treasure since I am playing DOTA2 at those hours. Then, one day, my connection got cut because my brother didn't  informed us that he didn't pay the last 2 months of billing in which they cut us off. I had no complains with the disconnection since it was our own fault not paying the bill, And in myself I was thinking that its the right time to change from the "SLOW" and "UNSTABLE" into an affordable, and  "DECENT" internet connection for our home. I had slow connection before, and now It's time to set th...

Do you know what CIR (Committed Information Rate) is?

In the Converge ICT's FTTX plan, the Committed Information Rate (CIR) is displayed as "Minimum Speed" There are many things our Internet Service Providers won't just tell us. Some of it are just "little jargons" in which we cannot totally understand, though some are very crucial when it comes to the impact to "us", subscribers. In a good way, it'll save us the trouble understanding the technicalities of network and communication. But in a bad way, not knowing these "technicalities" limits our capability to maximize our usage. One of the hidden terms that our ISP failed to disclose in their ads is the CIR "Committed Information Rate."   It is important to know what CIR is especially when it acts as a "guarantee" that the internet connection will be having it's minimum bandwidth that the users can utilize in the plan.  Why is it important to know what is CIR? It's plainly simple, it gives the user ass...

The Slow Internet Industry in the Philippines

Ive tried Different Internet Service Provider in the Philippines. PLDT, Globe, Datelcom, Converge ICT (Comclark), and Bayantel. When I was young, I first obtained my first Smart Bro during its glory days (2007). I have no complaints about speed at that moment since I was never aware about the Data Caps because I was so excited to have an internet connection at home,  all I know is that I'm using a very high speed internet for just 999. But after experiencing 2 years of using the service, I slowly crave for real high speed internet, since SmartBro is the only provider available in Apalit, Pampanga, you'll have no choice but to follow their services. I remember the canopy days. Those where the days when there is no limitations on data caps. It felt so good to have that, even though it's hard to download in 512k internet speed. But atleast I had to experience seamless 512k internet. In 2009, PLDT "Unlimited" myDSL (DSL)came along  and offered their cable ...
