Top 5 Things Pinoy Netizens do on the Internet

There are different types of person as they say, but in pinoys' case? We aren't so that different at all! We live in a society where we do follow the trends, (since it's cool) but still, we do have the same some activities that makes us globally trend. Why do we trend? Because we love internet so much. We so love the internet that we spend most of our time browsing social media sites.

Internet is the future of television, radio and print advertisement mixed in one halo-halo bowl. It's the "hollywood-dream-in-a-can" and It's also the reason why many people would die just to be on the trending list of twitter.

It's not so shocking to see #aldub in the worldwide trends of Twitter. I myself am not a fan of the said love team, but it is quite amusing to see that  Pinoy can be a top hashtag on a overly populated and famous twitter.

It proved that pinoy can voice out their messages to the world, in such way that proved that we are powerful when it comes popularity contest on the world of  internet. What makes it trending?  It's the fact that we love to share some things that would make other pinoy smile. With this fact in hand, why don't we dissect out the common activities of Pinoy Netizens on the internet.

Meanwhile, here are the  top 5 activities pinoy do on the web:

1. Browse Social Media Sites

Oh pinoy... You always wanted your voice to be heard by others, that's why we found Facebook so amusing. At the moment, majority of Filipino Netizens could be found in the following website:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Instagram
  • Youtube

The more Pinoy in the said website, the more we wanted to be in it. Why? Because we love the attention upon we post something great. I won't be hypocrite enough to tell that I don't do such thing, all of us do wanted to do so. We pinoy wanted to be on the spotlight, we wanted to be funny and famous, that's why the internet stage is very very suitable for modern pinoy. The liberty of having recognition without the TV network allows us to be famous in our own ways.

And lastly, we just wanted to be "in." That's the major reason why.

2. Download and Watch Movies

Anyone said that he/she never watched a movie on/from the internet even once his/her their lives is a liar.  We all do. It's a cheap way to entertain ourselves. I'm sure that most of us even have a collection of our favorite movies in our hard drive. We Pinoy wanted to be entertained and we would be damned if internet totally restricts movie downloads.

3. Debate in Contents which Contains Politics

Ehem. Pinoy are proud, and naturally smart. Why? Because we love to learn things indirectly. Take a look at the comment boxes on Facebook, isn't amusing to see Pinoys debating about the given topic. It's funny to see how Pinoys take sides on a certain topic. Especially when it comes to political views.  I once come across a "Pro-marcos" and "Anti-Marcos" articles in which many people would debate to. Internet contains both opinion and truth, and what spices it up is the fact that you don't know which one is true, and which one is not. But Pinoys are very resourceful, we wanted to be "right" that's why we tend to send out our opinion to prove that we are right.

On a second thought, some would debate... "With Wikipedia as his/her reference"

4. Share Funny Stuff

Pinoys do like to have some fun. Majority of Pinoy trending videos come from amateur videos. The "Pabebe girls" is the best example in this one. They have dominated the web for several weeks, and even popular personality have their best shot in imitating the said video? Why? Because it's damn funny.

Filipinos always have a place for laughs. This is what we are known for, right?

5. Troll on National Issues

Since Pinoys always have a "bright side" to show by being a troll on national issues, we tend to make everything as funny as it may seem. Perhaps we should be accountable for the bullying of the Binay Family. We just always have a way to make fun of everything, no matter how dark or sad a situation is.

Do you know what CIR (Committed Information Rate) is?

In the Converge ICT's FTTX plan, the Committed Information Rate (CIR) is displayed as "Minimum Speed" There are many things our Internet Service Providers won't just tell us. Some of it are just "little jargons" in which we cannot totally understand, though some are very crucial when it comes to the impact to "us", subscribers. In a good way, it'll save us the trouble understanding the technicalities of network and communication. But in a bad way, not knowing these "technicalities" limits our capability to maximize our usage. One of the hidden terms that our ISP failed to disclose in their ads is the CIR "Committed Information Rate."   It is important to know what CIR is especially when it acts as a "guarantee" that the internet connection will be having it's minimum bandwidth that the users can utilize in the plan.  Why is it important to know what is CIR?
